This Qualification provides an opportunity for learners to refresh their Practical skills and knowledge prior to undertaking the EAL Level 3 Award in the Initial verification and Certification of Electrical Installations 600/4337/4. It also provides an opportunity for learners to gain fundamental knowledge and skills of inspection, testing and initial verification.

Entry Requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification; however centres should ensure that the learners have the potential to achieve the qualification. Learners must have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy to complete the learning outcomes and assessment. It is recommended that learners have an understanding of the requirements of BS 7671 and are working in the electrical industry.

What does this qualification cover?

This qualification comprises of a single knowledge unit which covers: safe isolation, requirements for initial verification, initial inspection, safe testing and commissioning; and completion of documentation for a typical single phase electrical installation.

Please note that you must bring photographic ID such as passport or driving license with you for the Course Registration.

Who is this qualification for?

Learners who wish to gain a fundamental knowledge of inspection and testing of simple single phase electrical installations together with relevant practical skills.

How is the qualification achieved?

This qualification will be achieved when the learner has successfully completed the online exam and a centre marked practical assessment.

What will be assessed?

The learners knowledge and skills relating to fundamental inspection, testing and initial verification.

Assessment Method

A 30 question (open book) on-screen examination. The learner will require IET Guidance Note 3. The learner will also undertake the initial verification of single phase installation indicative of a simple domestic installation.
