What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a real job where you learn, gain experience and get paid. You’re an employee with a contract of employment and holiday leave. By the end of an apprenticeship, you’ll have the right skills and knowledge needed for your chosen career.
It can take between one and 6 years to complete an apprenticeship depending on which one you choose, what level it is and your previous experience. It’s funded from contributions made by the government and your employer. The Low Carbon Heating Technician Apprenticeship takes around 36 months.
Levels of an apprenticeship
This means you will:
• require previous qualifications such as an English or maths GCSE • require extra training in the English or maths skills needed so you’re at the right level
At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent education level. For example, if you complete a level 3 apprenticeship, you’ll achieve the equivalent of an A level.
Duration and Attendance
The course duration is 36 months plus 4 months for the End Point Assessment. Attendance is one day a week and will start September 2024.
Total Cost
Our course is government funded for apprentices up to £22,000 including the End Point Assessment. If your apprentice is aged 19+ you will be required to pay 5% (£1,100) contribution.
Training Equipment
When training at our centre, we will provide all materials including any books, materials, tools and paperwork. You will only need to have your own safety boots for the workshop. No prior learning is required, your apprentice will have an interview with us prior to enrolment to ensure it is the right apprenticeship for them.
Special Notes
If an apprentice candidate does not have the relevant English or Maths, we will embed the relevant skills required at no extra cost to the employer.
